This is a Chelsea Women predicted lineup as they kick off their Champions League campaign with a clash against Real Madrid. The two teams met in last year’s competition at the same stage with the Blues emerging unscathed. With a huge match against Arsenal coming this Saturday, there may be some restraint shown on the starting lineup to rest key players.

How Chelsea Women Have Lined Up Recently
Hannah Hampton has been the goalkeeper of choice after sitting out most of pre-season for Zecira Musovic. In just two matches there’s already been some slight experimenting with the back line as Millie Bright has been paired up with both Kadeisha Buchanan and Nathalie Bjorn in the centre of the defence. Lucy Bronze and Ashley Lawrence are set as the fullbacks.

Sjoeke Nusken has been in defensive midfield for both fixtures so far, Erin Cuthbert partnered her in a pivot against Aston Villa before playing as a more standard central midfielder against Crystal Palace. Guro Reiten has been the other midfielder in the middle, generally operating as the number ten.
Johanna Rytting Kaneryd has the right wing spot locked down with Lauren James and Sandy Baltimore trading the left. Striking duties have been split between Mayra Ramirez and Aggie Beever-Jones.
Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics
Sonia Bompastor sets up in a fluid formation with a base shape of a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, this did look a bit more like a 4-1-4-1 against a weaker Eagles side. There was also a 4-4-2 seen during pre-season showing that the French coach isn’t afraid of some tactical flexibility.

Bompastor has been off to a strong start going undefeated through the friendlies and her first two WSL outings. Her team is defensively solid, keeping four clean sheets in five attempts while netting 18 times in that stretch.
Chelsea Absences to Consider
The long-term absentees of Sam Kerr, Aniek Nouwen, Mia Fishel, and Sophie Ingle are still sidelined and haven’t been included in the squad regardless. Left-back Alejandra Bernabe has also been excluded from the competition squad.
