‘Agreement Reached’: Deal in Place for ‘Elite’ Player to Join Chelsea

'Agreement Reached': Deal in Place for 'Elite' Player to Join Chelsea: Joao Felix

Chelsea appear to have struck a deal for Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid. Whether this is a good transfer is a debatable topic amongst fans.

Agreement Reached for Joao Felix to Join Chelsea From Atletico Madrid

Personal Terms Already in Place

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea have a “total agreement” with Felix, who wants to rejoin the Blues after a six-month loan spell in 2023. This is relatively surprising, given his time in London wasn’t incredibly successful. Furthermore, there has been a lot of change at the club since, including two new managers.

Furthermore, David Ornstein has revealed that there is an “agreement reached” between the clubs. It was unlikely that this deal would’ve broken down, given that both clubs wanted it across the line to prevent the collapse of Conor Gallagher’s transfer. The player joins on a six-year contract with an optional extra 12 months.

Where Does Joao Felix Fit in at Chelsea?

The benefit of Felix’s arrival is that he is a very versatile attacker. He could play as a centre-forward; Chelsea struggled against Manchester City, partly down to Nicolas Jackson’s ineffectiveness. He could also play on either wing or even as a number ten, as we saw Enzo Fernandez unconventionally playing in that role at the weekend.

However, Chelsea are already very well-stocked in most of these positions. Cole Palmer has the right-wing held down, whilst they have just signed Pedro Neto and already have Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke at the club, all capable of playing on the left. Meanwhile, Christopher Nkunku needs to fit in somewhere and it looks like Victor Osimhen could be joining the side as their number nine.

It is unknown where Felix would play for Enzo Maresca, but he is an “elite” player who could help his new manager this campaign.
