Manchester United are in the midst of reshaping their squad and making some more necessary signings before the end of the 2024 summer transfer window. It looks like they’re now ready to close a deal to sell winger Facundo Pellistri.

How Much Could United Get for This Sale?
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Panathinaikos are now ready to close the deal to finalise the transfer of the Uruguayan winger from the Premier League giants. He states that the deal is likely to be completed this week and that we’re “almost there” in terms of confirmation of this potential transfer.

The journalist reiterates that this will be a permanent transfer and not another loan move for Pellistri, who spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan at La Liga club Granada. Romano states that one key factor for the Greek club pushing for the signing of the 22-year-old was that their manager Diego Alonso really wants the young winger to be a part of their squad this season.
It has already been reported that United are demanding a fee of around £8.5 million to let the Uruguay international leave before the end of the summer window.
How Could United Benefit From Facundo Pellistri Sale?
Pellistri could be the latest young player sold by the Red Devils after they also managed to permanently sell youth academy graduate Mason Greenwood to Marseille earlier this summer. United could benefit from the money they receive from the Uruguayan’s sale as it could help them sign a new midfielder amid their links to PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The 22-year-old Uruguay winger was signed by the Red Devils from Penarol in 2020, but he never managed to push his way into becoming a first-team regular. He has only made 25 appearances for United in his four-year stint, not being able to score any goals. Pellistri’s last appearance for Erik ten Hag’s side was in the loss to Manchester City in the 2024 Community Shield final when he came on as a substitute.
Despite having a pretty good 2024 Copa America with Uruguay, for whom he featured in all six matches and was even hailed as a “beast” by Real Madrid star Federico Valverde, Pellistri appears to be set for a new journey in his career and unable to achieve his dreams at Old Trafford.
