What Do Chelsea Have in Store for Palmer?
The Telegraph’s Matt Law has reported that the London side has decided to reward the English winger for his superb form over the last year by giving him a new wage increase. Law states that Palmer’s wages were much less than the wages earned by Raheem Sterling and that the club is mindful of how unjust that is. It’s added that the club aspires to give him a salary increment that reflects his importance to the squad, but that he won’t be given a new contract. He adds that there is an expectation that Chelsea will just privately adjust his wages in his seven-year contract.
What Long-Term Plans Do Chelsea Have for Palmer?
The journalist cites a source inside the club that claims that Chelsea are hopeful that Palmer will be a part of their squad for the next decade. The source states: “Chelsea expect Cole to be at the club for the next 10 years. So of course they will look after him and make sure his wages reflect his performances. There is no need to do that publicly or with grand announcements. The club will work with Cole and his representatives, rather than doing their business in public”.

Palmer turned out to be an exceptional signing for the Blues last season, significantly surpassing all expectations. He scored 25 goals and provided 15 assists in 45 appearances for the London heavyweights last season and even continued his good work in the Euro 2024 for England, assisting the winning goal in the semi-final and scoring in the final. He’s been hailed as “amazing” for his stunning form over the last year and is expected to be a key part of Enzo Maresca’s plans for how Chelsea will play under his system.
