‘Exciting Winger’ Set to Extend Stay at Stamford Bridge - Reward for Impressive Season

Chelsea Face Stiff Competition From Guiu

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Blues are looking into a possible move to sign the 18-year-old striker in the summer transfer window. He states that Bayern Munich are also showing an interest in potentially signing the Spaniard, whose current contract with Barcelona expires at the end of June, 2025.

The journalist also adds that the La Liga heavyweights are trying their best to prevent themselves from losing Guiu. He indicates that Barcelona still want to keep the forward for the long term and that a new contract is yet to be discussed with his representatives, amid the growth in interest from other clubs.

What makes the Spanish forward a lucrative signing is that he has a £5 million release clause in his contract, making him a bargain for any major side. Chelsea will, however, need to be quick with how they work behind the scenes to secure the signing of the teenage sensation.

Who Else Have Chelsea Been Linked To?

Marc Guiu is not the only striker that the London club has been linked with so far in the summer. They have been strongly connected to Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran and are reportedly negotiating with their fellow Premier League side for his signing. They are also rumoured to have an interest in signing Atletico Madrid forward Samu Ororodion amid the Blues’ desire to sign a prolific new striker who can compete with Jackson.

They are likely to be eyeing Guiu for the long-term project rather than aiming to get immediate rewards from him. The 18-year-old forward became a record-setter at Barcelona last year, becoming the club’s youngest goalscorer in the 21st century when he scored the winner in his side’s 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao last season.

He also has six goals and four assists in 16 appearances for Barcelona’s reserve team and has proven himself as a clinical goal-scorer, with his prolific nature turning Chelsea’s head.
