Chelsea Women Predicted Lineup vs Barcelona Femeni Second Leg

Emma Hayes watches her team in action from the sidelines

This is a Chelsea Women predicted lineup for their clash with Barcelona Femeni in the second leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final tie. The Blues secured a huge 1-0 victory in Spain in the first leg and just need to draw to go through.

How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Hannah Hampton has started to look undroppable with previous rotational option Zećira Mušović not featuring recently. Ashley Lawrence, Kadeisha Buchanan, Jess Carter, Niamh Charles, and Ève Périsset have lined up in the defence with Johanna Rytting Kaneryd spending the last match as a right wing-back.

Melanie Leupolz and Erin Cuthbert have been the main midfield pairing, although a midfield trio including Sjoeke Nüsken was seen in the first leg. Sophie Ingle and Fran Kirby have also come in to play as part of a trio previously.

Kaneryd, Aggie Beever-Jones, Guro Reiten, and Maika Hamano have been seen on the wings with Lauren James switching between attacking midfield and the strike partner of Mayra Ramírez based on formation. Cat Macario also got a start as the striker against Aston Villa.

Chelsea Women Recent Form and Tactics

While Emma Hayes has changed between a 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, and 4-3-3 for a lot of the campaign, she notably set up in a 3-5-2 against Barcelona in Spain. This tactical switch proved successful as her team came away with the win.

Regardless of formation, a return to form with two consecutive clean sheets will be a positive sign for Emma Hayes after conceding in consecutive games against Ajax, Arsenal, and Manchester City. Her side are rarely kept scoreless with only the Gunners and Manchester City keeping clean sheets against Chelsea since the turn of the year.

Chelsea Injuries to Consider

Based on the manager’s pre-match comments there are only three players sidelined for this one. The ACL torn trio of Mia Fishel, Sam Kerr, and Aniek Nouwen are the only players unavailable as it’s been confirmed that Millie Bright, Maren Mjelde, and Nathalie Björn will be in the squad.

One thing about Hayes, she’ll always keep people guessing. Despite the success of the back three, she may change things up to keep the opposition unprepared. We could also see a change up front or to the midfield trio.
