Arsenal have been enjoying a prolific 2023/24 season in which they have been able to fight strongly in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, but have endured struggles with their centre-forward position. Amid this, there has been an interesting update on their aims to sign Swedish forward Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal Scouting Sporting CP Forward Viktor Gyokeres For Many Months
Have Arsenal Made A Move For Gyokeres Yet?
Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Gunners have not yet opened talks to sign the Sporting CP striker or any other forward in the summer transfer window so far. However, the journalist reaffirms that Gyokeres is “one of the options on the list” because the Premier League heavyweights have scouted him for many months.

Arsenal have had their representatives monitor the progress of the 25-year-old in what has been a fantastic individual campaign for Sporting. When it comes to Arsenal’s desire to improve their forward line for next season, Romano further revealed on his CaughtOffside blog: “Still, at the moment, there are no talks or concrete negotiations as Arsenal want to take their time before deciding who’s the player they will sign up front.”
While not as reliable, Mas Fichajes indicate that the English title contenders are willing to pay the price for the attacker.

What Could Gyokeres Bring To Arsenal?
The Gunners have not ideally gotten as many goals from their centre-forwards as they’d wanted this season, with Gabriel Jesus struggling with injury issues and Eddie Nketiah being quite inconsistent, only scoring six goals in 33 games. That is probably why they have included someone like Gyokeres in their wishlist for a possible summer move.

The 25-year-old, who had actually played in the Championship for Coventry City from 2021-2023, has made a huge impact at Sporting since joining them last year. The Swedish forward has scored 36 goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions so far in the 2023/24 season, having a whopping 50-goal contribution for the Portuguese side. He can definitely bring in a lot of goals to the Gunners’ side, proving his ability to finish off moves clinically and being decisive in the final third.
With that being said, it remains to be seen if Arsenal finally make a move for him or if they look into some other striker options after refusing to sign one in the winter transfer window.
