Arsenal are riding on a huge surge of momentum heading into the final few months of the 2023/24 season as they fight for both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles. Amid this, there now has been an interesting development on the future of midfielder Jorginho.
Arsenal Receive Update From Jorginho’s Agent On New Contract
Will Midfield Ace Sign A New Contract With Arsenal?
The Italian midfielder’s current contract is poised to expire at the end of June later this year. Unlike Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu, who recently signed new contracts, he has now yet agreed on an extension with the Gunners on the deal initially signed when he joined from Chelsea in 2023.
Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, has opened up on his client’s future. When asked about his contract situation, he told Radio Sportiva: “We will discuss with Arsenal about his contract being due to expire in June, it’s our priority. Arsenal have a fantastic group and we will see if they need him for next season. Returning to Italy? Why not? One day maybe.” Hence, it appears that the Italy international could be open to moving back to Italy and playing for a Serie A side if unable to agree on a new deal with the Gunners.

Should Arsenal Offer New Contract To Jorginho?
Jorginho has been an impressive squad player for Mikel Arteta’s side in his first full season at the Emirates Stadium and has filled in impressively for the injured Thomas Partey for the majority of the campaign. He has excelled in that deeper midfield role, being able to move the ball forward and control possession for the Gunners with ease and also allowing Declan Rice to play a more advanced role. That has allowed the Englishman to score six goals and provide as many assists in 28 Premier League games so far.
The 32-year-old Italian has made 28 appearances in all competitions and contributed towards two goals (one goal, one assist). But his role in the Gunners’ success has not gone under the radar and Mikel Arteta praised him as “magnificent” after the 4-1 win over Newcastle United earlier this year. Jorginho’s bright performances have proven that he probably deserves another short-term contract, but it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can come to an agreement with him over it.
