West Ham United are now ramping up their efforts to bring in Manchester City midfielder, Kalvin Phillips, according to Fabrizio Romano. The City outcast is getting closer to the exit door and he is also a subject of interest for other Premier League clubs.

Romano has revealed that the Hammers keep insisting on signing Phillips in the January transfer window and that they want to wrap up the transfer as soon as possible. Negotiations are underway between the clubs to reach an agreement on a potential loan deal. The England international is yet to make his stance clear and according to the Italian journalist he is yet to make a decision on his future.

Sky Sports reported recently that the player is also on the radar of fellow Premier League clubs Newcastle and Crystal Palace. The Irons need to move fast in order to secure the deal. Spanish giants, Barcelona were also reported to be interested in the former Leeds United player. However, Romano clarified that the deal is too expensive for the Catalans and that they won’t be pursuing the player at the moment.
Kalvin Phillips’ Situation at Man City
The “monster” midfielder was signed by the Cityzens from Leeds United in the summer of 2022 for a transfer fee close to £42 million. It is safe to say that the Englishman has failed to live up to his billing. However, it has to be noted that the 28-year-old has not received as much playing time as he would have hoped for.
The City midfield is stacked with world-class players and with Rodri making the defensive midfield position his own, it is hard to see Phillips breaking into the first team. The Englishman has only made four appearances in the Premier League so far this season with most of them being off the bench. A move to West Ham could potentially help the player bring his career back on track.
