Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that a loan deal has been agreed that sends a four-year club midfielder to the Bundesliga.

Romano reported that a “Verbal agreement [is] now in place.” Donny van de Beek, the former Ajax player who graduated from their prestigious academy, will head to the Bundesliga in January. Eintracht Frankfurt, who won the Europa League two years ago, is the Dutch midfielder’s destination.

Van de Beek’s loan will last until June, and according to Romano, there is a potential buy option of nearly £13 million. The Italian stressed that the buy option is “not mandatory.” but Frankfurt will still “pay Manchester United a loan fee, as Ten Hag sees his first guaranteed departure of next year.

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg also tweeted additional details about the loan deal. “Eintracht is also pushing for an option to buy now.” the German reported. Frankfurt are through to the knockout rounds of the Europa Conference League, and are making a push to finish within the European spots of the Bundesliga. Van de Beek will add to the squad depth that is required when competing in multiple leagues.
Plettenberg further reported that the two clubs were yet to schedule the player’s medical, but that “Eintracht wants to finalize the deal this year.” The Dutch midfielder has been described as an “exciting player,” but a dip in form saw him fall out of the starting lineup, and a loan deal was the best chance he had of seeing the pitch next year.
