Having joined the German club at the age of just eight, the midfielder also has 21 caps for Germany’s youth teams and excelled for Schalke’s U-17 and U-19 teams in the past few seasons. He scored seven goals in 13 appearances for their U-19 team last season and had 15 goal contributions (seven goals, eight assists) in as many appearances for their U-17 side in the 2021-22 season. Ouedraogo is claimed to have a playing style that is a combination of former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso and ex-Chelsea man Michael Essien, having the versatility to drop deep to help build up attacks as well as make explosive forward runs to break the opposition backline.
