Burnley struggled to get into advanced positions with any consistency until late, when the Red’s opted to sit deeper and prioritise protecting their own penalty box.

Mason Mount is expected to return ahead of the tie at Old Trafford, while Harry Maguire is pushing for fitness. Sergio Reguilon has been battling illness but hopes to feature against Palace. Lisandro Martinez’ fitness is unknown and he is unlikely to be risked in an early round game.

Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are still sidelined with injury and will not feature, forcing Ten Hag to avoid resting his loanee full-back or Dalot.
