£47 Million Enough to Seal Deal

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Nunes will now finally make his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Manchester City in a deal said to be worth £47 million. City have been chasing Nunes in the summer transfer window and had a bid for the player rejected recently, leading to the player deciding that he would not train with his current club until a deal was agreed.

Matheus Nunes: Wolves’ Record Signing

Nunes became Wolves’ record signing when he joined the Midlands club from Sporting in the summer of 2022 for £38 million. The deal was for five years but just one year later, the player is set to move again with the Premier League champions being his destination.

Loan Deal

Wolves will also gain a new midfielder with Manchester City agreeing to send 21-year-old Tommy Doyle in the opposite direction. Doyle is set to join on an initial loan deal with the option to buy for £5 million. City have also added a sell-on clause for a whopping 50 per cent if the move becomes permanent.

Doyle spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Sheffield United and helped the South Yorkshire club to promotion back to the Premier League, chipping in with four goals and seven assists in 38 appearances during an impressive spell away from the Etihad.

Kevin de Bruyne Injury

The injury to City’s star player, Kevin de Bruyne, has seen Pep Guardiola move to strengthen his midfield options with the Belgian likely to be out for up to four months. Lucas Paqueta was also a target but that move collapsed when it emerged that the Brazilian was under investigation for the potential breaching of betting rules by the English Football Association.
