Barcelona Could Now Lose Out on Key Target After Saudi Club Make ‘Huge Bid’

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has shockingly revealed this week that Saudi side Al Hilal are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar as the Brazilian looks for a move away. A deal could soon be in the making for the former Champions League winner, who is said to be “tempted” by the offer.

Al Hilal Seeking Neymar Transfer

Neymar and PSG Both Want Player’s Exit

RMC Sport report that in a meeting with PSG coach Luis Enrique, the 31-year-old was one of several players who were told that their time in Paris was up.

This decision seems to suit him as he had already expressed his desire to leave the club, and the sooner the better at that.

Saudi Side Present Proposal

Posting late at night, Romano tweeted that Al Hilal made contact with Neymar and that they made what sources had said was a “huge bid.” He also revealed that negotiations were underway for all sides to reach an agreement that would see the player go to Saudi Arabia.

The Italian further disclosed that the offer was made recently, and Neymar was not opposed to the chance of going to play football in the growing Saudi Pro League. While it was not directly implied, mention of Al Hilal’s bid being of substantial size suggests that they might be willing to pay the player’s large salary demands as well.

Romano followed this update with another claiming that Neymar and Al Hilal are in “advanced talks” emphasising Neymar’s willingness to move to Saudi Arabia, while he also confirmed that Barcelona are interested in the player but may settle for Joao Felix if they fail to secure the Brazilian’s services.

PSG Exodus

World Cup winner Lionel Messi has already left the Parisian giants this summer and now with Neymar also seeming increasingly likely to leave, PSG are left looking weak. Only the signings of Goncalo Ramos and Ousmane Dembele have given the reigning Ligue 1 champions hope for another Champions League run this year.

Already, though, the absence of these stars has proven costly. A 0-0 draw with Lorient is not how PSG wanted to start the season.

Normally domestic campaigns are relatively easy-going for the French team but perhaps it could be more tricky this time around. If their opening match is a sign of things to come then the potential departure of Neymar among other stars could cause a direct impact on their league and European performances going forward.
