Chelsea Receive Possible Blow in Moises Caicedo Chase

What Happened With Caicedo Lately?

The Blues are reportedly continuing negotiations for the signing of Brighton midfielder Caicedo – after having their recent bid rumoured to be around £80 million, immediately rejected by the Seagulls.

Jacobs states that Brighton recently received a bid of over £80 million from an unnamed Premier League side, who have asked for their identity to be kept confidential. It is said that Liverpool have not made a bid for the Ecuadorian and that his representatives have not been informed of the specific details of the offer.

It’s added that this could actually be a negotiating tactic from the Seagulls to get Chelsea to raise their bid. However, soon after that, Sky Sports dropped an update stating that an unnamed club from Saudi Arabia have also made an approach to sign the 21-year-old. The report from Sky Sports says that the Saudi club haven’t made an official offer, but made an enquiry on his availability. It’s added that this can actually benefit Brighton, who can keep demanding substantial figures to sell Caicedo to a club like Chelsea if more clubs join the race to sign him.

What Do Chelsea Have Planned?

The London side are still firmly in the race to make another acquisition from Brighton, and they continue talks with them to find a suitable agreement to sign the young midfielder. However, with Roberto de Zerbi’s side reportedly sticking firm with their rumoured £100 million valuation of him, Chelsea won’t find it easy to get this deal done, with Brighton announcing Caicedo will be staying unless their valuation is met.

Caicedo, hailed as “world-class” for his heroics last season, has even voiced his gratitude to the Blues and hinted at his desire to move to Stamford Bridge. But with reports of new interest and offers, his transfer saga has taken a new twist, and Mauricio Pochettino’s team might have to accelerate their advances to sign the 21-year-old before someone else steals him.
