‘I’m Told’: Chelsea in Final Stages of Confirming £38 Million ‘Monster’ as Latest Summer Signing – Romano

Chelsea, Stamford Bridge General View - Axel Disasi

Fabrizio Romano has given an exciting update on Chelsea’s progress on making their fourth summer signing under Mauricio Pochettino ahead of the start of the Premier League season, as they appear to be set to bring in a replacement for the injured Wesley Fofana.

Chelsea Close to Confirming Axel Disasi Transfer

Disasi Arrives in England Ahead of Chelsea Move

The Blues are already reported to have agreed a deal with AS Monaco to sign their defender Axel Disasi for a fee of around £38 million. Romano now claims that the 25-year-old has arrived in England to undergo his necessary medical tests before being able to complete a move to Stamford Bridge.

He will then be signing a five-year contract with the Premier League side as personal terms have already been agreed. Romano also states that he has been told that Chelsea and Monaco have already exchanged all the official documents and contracts necessary to make this deal official.

As a result, it now looks like a matter of time before the London giants can confirm their latest acquisition of the window. Disasi, who has been labelled as a “monster” for his performances last season, will provide more depth in the centre-back position, which has already been shortened this summer after the departures of Kalidou Koulibaly and Cesar Azpilicueta.

What Is on Chelsea’s Radar After Axel Disasi Transfer?

Chelsea have been quite busy in the summer window, both in terms of incomings and outgoings. They’ve already offloaded over 12 first-team players to trim their bloated squad, as well as making additions like Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and Angelo Gabriel.

Romano has also stated that Chelsea are keen on signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo and continuing negotiations with the Seagulls, who are reportedly demanding £100 million to let the Ecuadorian leave. The London side are likely to continue their pursuit of the 21-year-old midfielder after completing the Disasi deal as they aim to strengthen their midfield line and find a suitable partner for Enzo Fernandez.
