‘Matter of Time’: Man Utd Move for ‘Perfect’ Star Now ‘99.9% Done’ After Personal Terms Finally Agreed

Old Trafford outside Manchester United - Andre Onana

Andre Onana’s move to Manchester United is now “99.9% done”, confirms Fabrizio Romano. It’s now “just a matter of time” before the Inter Milan goalkeeper becomes their second signing of the summer transfer window after personal terms were finally agreed.

What Needs to Be Agreed for Onana Move?

David de Gea’s departure from Old Trafford has made it necessary for the Red Devils to sign a new goalkeeper and Erik ten Hag seems to be determined to reunite with his former Ajax player to fill in the no.1 role.

Romano claims that there are only a few minute details that need to be finalized for an agreement to be met between the two clubs. It’s added that only some details about the payment terms are being discussed, like how many years it’ll take for United to pay the entire fee – which is reported to be £47 million including add-ons.

Another reason behind a delay in the deal is that the Premier League side needs the green light from their owners, the Glazer Family, to complete the deal, but it’s still thought to be only a matter of a few days before the Cameroon international becomes a new United player.

When Could Onana Become a New United Player?

As reported by Paul Hirst and Gary Jacob, the Red Devils have now finally agreed on personal terms with Onana, and, all going to plan, he should be signing a five-year contract with the club shortly. The 27-year-old is also expected to be a part of the United squad that flies for their pre-season tour of the USA on Wednesday (July 19) as long as he can complete his medicals in time.

The Cameroonian could be announced as a new player for Ten Hag’s side before the first pre-season match of their American tour against Arsenal on July 22. He comes with a lot of experience and excelled for Inter last season, keeping eight clean sheets in the Champions League to help them make it all the way to the final. Onana is thought by many, including journalist Richard Fay, to be “perfect” for Ten Hag, and will improve the Red Devils’ ability to play out from the back as he’s well accustomed to playing under the Dutch gaffer.

How United Could Line Up Next Season

Last Word on Football have put together a prediction of how the Red Devils will line up in the 2023/24 season, with two of the new signings included still yet to be confirmed.
