According to Dominic Scurr of The Shields Gazette, the Magpies are pushing to reach an agreement for Barnes. The Shields Gazette understands “Barnes is accepting of leaving Leicester to join Newcastle this summer.”
While Barnes’ arrival is imminent, there are discussions within the club regarding the potential departure of Allan Saint-Maximin, who has fallen out of favor under manager Eddie Howe.

The Shields Gazette report that Barnes is particularly attracted by Champions League football at St James’ Park. The player is said to be looking at properties in anticipation of his move to the North East.
Barnes’ arrival would not only bolster Newcastle’s squad but also provide a boost in quality and depth, which is crucial due to their involvement in European competitions next season.

The English man amassed 13 league goals last season for the Foxes, which is his career best tally. Despite his impressive individual performance, Barnes was unable to prevent Leicester City from suffering relegation from the Premier League. It was expected that the winger won’t play in the Championship and a move to Newcastle United is now well underway.
Allan Saint-Maximin’s Departure: A Possibility
There are discussions surrounding the future of Allan Saint-Maximin at Newcastle United. The French winger, once a fan favorite at St James’ Park, has struggled to find his place in Eddie Howe’s tactical setup. Romano wrote: “It’s also possible for Allan Saint-Maximin to leave Newcastle.”

Newcastle’s hierarchy is willing to listen to offers for the talented winger. Although Romano said that the Magpies are discussing his possible departure he also added “it’s not guaranteed yet”
