Mason Mount Tells Chelsea He Wants to Join Manchester United

What’s the Latest on the Mason Mount to Manchester United Saga?

What could have been a fairly simple set of negotiations for a player heading into the last year of his contract is proving far more complicated than anticipated.

Romano reports that United submitted their third bid for the player, who some fans think would be “perfect” for the club, on Friday evening, following Chelsea’s rapid rejection of the first two offers made.

This new bid was worth £50 million with £5 million in add-ons but was once again declined by the Blues, who made a counteroffer of their own. The West London club have asked United for £58 million plus £7 million in add-ons, a steep £10 million increase on United’s most recent valuation of the player. Chelsea are also willing to meet in person to resolve the issue.

This sets us up for an interesting next few days, with the saga seeming as though it is reaching its peak.

What makes the situation even more fascinating is that Mount has told Chelsea to let him move to Old Trafford this summer.

This comes after the Englishman already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils, demonstrating his intent to make the move go through.

Should he join Erik ten Hag’s side, Mount could provide invaluable creative quality in the middle of the park, giving United an upgrade on Christian Eriksen which would, in turn, allow their strength in depth to improve dramatically.
