Future in Doubt
Despite his love for Manchester United and respect for manager Erik ten Hag, the former Ajax man wants to secure first-team football next term, especially with Euro 2024 tournament on the horizon.
To do that, he may be forced to look elsewhere considering his career in Manchester never really got going following his £35 million move from Holland. With Casemiro and Christian Eriksen roaming the midfield at Old Trafford, his route to playing time is unclear. The midfielder has been labelled an “outcast” due to his difficulties in England.

Having failed to cement his place in the first team, Van de Beek spent time out on loan at Everton during the 2021/22 campaign making 7 appearances for the Toffees. Unfortunately, he failed to make much of an impression, registering just one goal in 7 games and failing to lay on any assists for his teammates.
The Dutch midfielder has only managed to start 5 Premier League games for United, and even the arrival of his former Ajax coach Ten Hag couldn’t ignite his career in Manchester before his 2022/23 was cut short by a serious knee injury.
Roma Lifeline
According to a report in the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have offered the 26-year-old to Roma, currently managed by their former head coach Jose Mourinho.
And while the Mail indicates that he’s currently not a priority for the Giallorossi, a loan move could be explored if a permanent transfer to another club can’t be agreed.

Van de Beek has only started 9 games for the Dutch National side but has delivered 3 goals and an assist. If the Netherlands manage to qualify for Euro 2024, he’ll be hoping to force his way into Ronald Koeman’s plans.
