Liverpool are soon going to announce the contract extension of goalkeeper Adrian, confirms Fabrizio Romano. The Reds are going to keep the number 2 at their club for the foreseeable future as an alternative to the undroppable Alisson Becker.

Even though he doesn’t get to play regular football at Anfield, Adrian has been a part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad since joining them in 2019 on a free transfer after he excelled for West Ham United in the Premier League.

Romano confirms that Adrian has already signed a new contract extension with the Reds. This will be made official very soon, with Klopp having the goalkeeper as part of his plans for the next season.
Recently, the Spanish goalkeeper revealed in a recent interview with The Athletic that he was in talks to sign a contract extension with the Reds, saying: “I have a great relationship with the manager and the club. We’ve been in talks and we’re really close. I know the situation and my role in the squad. Everyone wants to play and have minutes on the pitch, but you also need a big squad with good people who will commit everything every day in training.”

The Reds endured a frustrating end to the Premier League season, as they missed out on a top-4 place and will not play in the UEFA Champions League next season. Irrespective, Klopp is now working on upgrading his squad and started it by releasing four players – while loanee Arthur Melo was also allowed to return to Juventus.

Liverpool are reportedly close to signing Argentine World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton to improve their midfield and are likely to make more signings in the upcoming summer window. Adrian’s contract extension should be the start of a busy summer window, with the goalkeeper – rumoured to have earned £58,000-a-week wages in his previous deal – set to stay at Anfield beyond this campaign.
