After Mac Allister: Liverpool Hold ‘Meetings’ Over £52 Million Ace as Reds Close In on Second Summer Signing

According to a report from RMC Sport, Liverpool have met with the entourage of 22-year-old Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram. The French international is reportedly valued at £52m, with the Liverpool midfield underperforming this season, which saw the red half of Merseyside miss out on Champions League qualification.

Liverpool To Strengthen Their Midfield

Liverpool have seemingly struggled in midfield throughout the season, often being overrun. Injuries to key players such as Thiago Alcantara – in addition to losses of form, have seen Jurgen Klopp’s team struggle in midfield for continuity. Liverpool already appear near to signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. Adding Thuram to their engine room after completing the Mac Allister deal would transform the Anfield midfield.

Liverpool have recently announced that James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will all leave the club on free transfers this summer. This will leave Jurgen Klopp’s men light on quality and quantity in midfield. It will seemingly be a busy summer for the red half of Merseyside with departures freeing up space on the wage bill for new arrivals such as Mac Allister and Thuram.

The Reds have been impressed with the French international this season. Over his 35 French top-flight fixtures for Nice this season, he has bought exceptional energy to their midfield. The box-box midfielder would bring a work rate and ingenuity to the Anfield engine room that has been severely lacking season. He brings a physical presence, which would suggest he could adapt to the rigours of the Premier League.
