Chelsea Keen on Ambitious Summer Move for Manchester United Target Who ‘Lives for Goals’

Napoli's Victor Osimhen is reportedly a summer transfer target for Chelsea

Chelsea are eyeing a move to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window, confirms The Guardian’s Jacob Steinburg. The Blues are ready to fight for the in-demand Nigeria forward, who is also a reported target for Manchester United.

Chelsea’s Plan For Osimhen Detailed

The London side have struggled for goals all through the season having only managed 36 goals in 35 Premier League fixtures. January loan signing Joao Felix has struggled to improve this tally, chipping in with three goals since joining on loan from Athletico Madrid. However, Chelsea have shown their ability to make big-money transfers under the new owners and even broke their transfer record in January to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica. Therefore a big-money move for a proven goal scorer may not be out of the realm of possibility.

Steinburg adds that it’s the priority for the Blues to sign a new striker and that is why they are planning an ambitious move for Osimhen. It has also been confirmed that rumored incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino is himself keen on signing the Napoli no.9, who the Blues have had on their radar for quite some-time.

It has also been stated that Chelsea can expect to find some tough competition in the race to sign Osimhen, who is also seeking interest from United as well as Bayern Munich. The club realize that he can be the ideal player to fix their goal-scoring issues, as they’ve struggled to find a clinical striker at Stamford Bridge since Diego Costa’s departure in 2017.

Chelsea Could Face Trouble With Osimhen Signing

It is also added that the London side will not find it easy to sign the 24-year-old striker with Napoli likely to demand a high fee for him, which could reportedly surpass well over the £100 million mark. Moreover, Steinburg states that Chelsea will also have to sell themselves to Osimhen as they’re unlikely to play any European football next season.

The Napoli striker has been one of the top-performing forwards in Europe this season and helped his side win the Serie A title for the first time after over 30 years this season. He’s been labelled as someone who ‘lives for goals’ by ex-Italy manager Fabio Capello and has scored 28 goals as well as providing five assists across all competitions over this campaign so far.
