Erik ten Hag Considers Rabiot as Key Target

It was reported last summer that the Red Devils had tried hard to secure the signing of Rabiot and even agreed a deal with the Italian club to sign him. However, the deal evidently didn’t materialise and United switched their attention to ultimately sign Casemiro from Real Madrid instead.

Tanzic claims that the Manchester giants are now again pushing to sign the 28-year-old midfielder in the summer once he becomes a free agent. It’s also added that the club want this agreement to be finalised as soon as possible as they aim to strengthen their squad for Erik ten Hag’s second season.

The Old Trafford boss has already spoken with Rabiot about a move and considers him an ‘important’ target in the summer, adds Tanzic. It’s also added that Newcastle United are in the chase to sign the Frenchman, but he would ideally prefer a move to Manchester United after failing to do so last year.

How Can Rabiot Fit In at Old Trafford?

The 28-year-old midfielder, who reportedly earns wages of £113k-per-week, has been impressive for Juventus this season, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. He’s also contributed to them going all the way to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals this season.

Rabiot can operate as a defensive midfielder, but his most potent role is that of a no.8 or a box-to-box midfielder. He’s an energetic player who thrives in winning battles in midfield and can also score goals with his clever finishing and off-the-ball movement. The Frenchman was once termed an “excellent” player by Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez and is experienced at a high level, having played for Paris Saint-Germain. Rabiot has recently stated that he dreams of playing in the Premier League, but it remains to be seen if United can get this deal over the line anytime soon.
