Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo has confirmed that he will be leaving Anfield after his loan spell expires at the end of the season. This will put an end to a disappointing spell where he failed to start a single game after joining the club on loan from Juventus.

Arthur Reveals Plans After Liverpool Loan Spell Ends

The Reds are likely to have a bit of a reshuffle to their midfield in the summer, which includes signing a new midfielder, and the club are reported to be advancing on a deal to sign Brighton player Alexis Mac Allister.

This means they have no intention of keeping Arthur beyond his loan spell. The Brazilian midfielder spoke about his future after the season is over and told Goal: “I’m ready for a new challenge. I hope to say goodbye to Liverpool by playing some minutes. I want to say thanks to fans, club and Klopp, who always treated me well. I feel very good now. La Liga could be an option for me now.”

Arthur has struggled with injury problems all season long and only been able to make a single appearance for the Reds in the Champions League. He is yet to make his Premier League debut for Liverpool, and it remains to be seen if he actually gets to play in any of the remaining league games.

Arthur’s Career So Far Recapped

The reason why Liverpool decided to sign Arthur on loan for this season is that the midfielder came with a lot of experience. He’s played for both Barcelona and Juventus across his career and was part of the Spanish side’s La Liga title-winning 2018/19 season. He won the Coppa Italia with Juventus and made a combined 135 appearances for the two clubs.

Arthur was once – hailed for having an “incredible” start to his career at Barcelona before injuries and inconsistent spells started letting him down. It remains to be seen where he goes after leaving Liverpool and if he can secure a return to La Liga.
