How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Despite a change in manager the starting lineup has been settled to some degree. Kepa Arrizabalaga, Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and Kalidou Koulibaly have been consistent features in the back line.

In the midfield the return of N’Golo Kante has seen him form a trio with Mateo Kovacic and Enzo Fernandes while Joao Felix and Kai Havertz have been regular options to lead the line.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

With three different managers taking charge in the past few games it comes as no surprise that we have seen some tactical switches. Graham Potter’s 3-4-3 was replaced by a 3-5-2/5-3-2 by Bruno Saltor before Lampard briefly tried out a 4-3-3- before settling on the set-up Saltor used.

Despite these changes and shifts the results on the pitch have not improved. The Blues have not scored in their last four games and are without a win in five. This lack of goals could see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, once dubbed a “Chelsea outcast” to get the nod up front as Havertz and Felix have failed to get the job done.

Chelsea Absences to Consider

Interim manager Lampard confirmed that Koulibaly will be out for this clash, and is likely to be missing for a few weeks. He joins long term absentee Armando Broja on the injured list.
