Romano: Chelsea ‘Could Bring Back’ 44G/a Star for Huge Fee in Summer Window

Tammy Abraham pre-match

Chelsea face the possibility of bringing back Tammy Abraham from AS Roma in the summer transfer window, confirms Fabrizio Romano. This is after they sold him to the Serie A club in 2021 after roping in Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.

Chelsea Could Make Tammy Abraham Move in Summer

Major Fee

Romano adds that the Blues had actually inserted a buy-back clause of around £71 million for the English forward when they sold him to Roma. If they are interested in activating that clause, then they could bring him back this summer.

However, it is added that no concrete talks have taken place at all between the two sides over a potential transfer yet. Romano said on his YouTube channel: “In the contract between Roma and Chelsea, there is a clause – just for Chelsea. Let me clarify, the clause is not valid for any other club. [It’s a] €80million (£71.3m) buy-back clause.

“So Chelsea can bring the player back to Stamford Bridge for that amount in the summer. But at the moment there is nothing advanced or concrete, so they have not communicated that they want to trigger the clause, but they have this possibility.”

It has been reported recently that Manchester United could also be in the race to sign Abraham from AS Roma as they’re likely to search for a new striker in the summer. However, Romano also adds that the Red Devils have not held any concrete talks over a deal either as of now.

The striker joined Chelsea at the age of seven and played for over twelve years in their youth academy. He was given his major break by Frank Lampard and made 82 appearances for the Blues, scoring 30 goals while at the club.

Since being sent to Italy, the Englishman has been performing at a high level. He helped i Lupi win the UEFA Europa Conference League last season and ended as their top-scorer too. The 25-year-old has scored 34 goals and provided 10 assists in 87 appearances for Roma – but it appears that he could be the point of a major transfer battle in the summer.
