According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur have continued talks in the last 24 hours, as the club look to sign Sporting Lisbon star Pedro Porro. The report from Romano also states that the player dreams of the Premier League, but Sporting are holding firm and insisting that the £39 million release clause is met.

Tottenham Hotspur remain in talks with Sporting Lisbon to sign Spanish international Porro. Antonio Conte’s men are thought to be in the hunt for a new right wing-back. The club have hit an inconsistent run of form recently, picking up seven points from their last six games, only winning two.

Porro shone in both games against Spurs in the Champions League. The 23-year-old Spaniard has enjoyed two successful loan spells at Estadio Jose Alvalade. Following the two-year loan spell, he joined Sporting on a permanent transfer for £7.4 million from Manchester City. The Sporting star has excelled in his time in Portugal, with his form being described as “sensational.”

Antonio Conte Targets New Right Wing-Back
Antonio Conte throughout his managerial career has shown a tendency to prefer a three-at-the-back system with wing-backs. During his time in North London, the Spurs manager has been unable to find a suitable candidate to play right wing-back.
Djed Spence joined Spurs last summer, but the 22-year-old has found game time hard to come by, making only four Premier League appearances. When asked about signing Spence, Conte was very quick to distance himself from the signing: “The club decided to buy him.” After these comments, it’s not hard to see why the Spurs boss is looking at Porro.
Despite Tottenham targeting a new right-wing back, they are unwilling to pay Sporting the full fee upfront and would rather pay over several instalments. The Portuguese giants are under no pressure to sell Porro after selling Mateus Nunes and João Palhinha last summer. The Spanish International was a vital part of the Sporting team that won its first Portuguese title in 19 years and has continued his top form for Ruben Amorim’s team.
