‘I Can Reveal’: Fabrizio Romano Makes Major Claim Arsenal Fans Will Love

Gabriel Jesus with Eddie Nketiah

Arsenal are considering signing a new forward in the January transfer window, claims Fabrizio Romano. This decision has been made keeping in mind the three-month-long injury picked up by Gabriel Jesus during the World Cup which rules him out of action until at least March, and will excite fans of the Gunners with January traditionally a difficult month to push through major transfer deals.

Arsenal Considering Signing New Striker After Gabriel Jesus Blow

Romano Gives Update on Arsenal’s January Business

The Gunners received a major setback during the World Cup, with Jesus suffering a knee injury during Brazil’s 1-0 loss to Cameroon in their final group game. He needed to undergo surgery and will now be out of action for some time.

Romano claims that this could’ve prompted their management to look at other options and to improve their front line, which is now greatly weakened. He wrote for CaughtOffside: “I can reveal that Arsenal are considering a new signing because of the Gabriel Jesus injury being more serious than initially expected. However, Folarin Balogun is expected to continue his loan season at Reims, as things stand.”

Mikel Arteta’s side currently only has Eddie Nketiah as their natural no.9 option after the injury to the Brazilian forward. Nketiah is not the most clinical finisher, though, having scored just three goals in 19 appearances for them this season, none of which have come in the Premier League, leading some fans to fear that he might not be an able replacement for their prolific summer signing.

Arsenal Impressive So Far This Campaign

The Gunners have had a dream start to the 2022/23 season and exceeded all expectations with their performances. They are currently on top of the Premier League table with 37 points from 14 games, helping them steer five points clear of second-placed Manchester City. They also won their Europa League group and moved on to the Round of 16.

Jesus has played a significant part in their success, getting involved in a lot of goals. The 25-year-old, dubbed as ‘sensational’ by ex-Manchester City defender Micah Richards for his heroics, has scored five goals and provided six assists in 14 Premier League appearances, solving his side’s scoring issues and also helping the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli soar.

If Arsenal wants to continue their ambitious title push in the second half of the season, they’ll probably have to strengthen up top in the January summer window. It remains to be seen who they can sign to help fill the void left in the frontline.
