How Wales Have Lined-up Recently
Wales line up in a 5-3-2 formation. Wayne Hennessey starts in goal, behind a line of Joe Rodon, Chris Mepham and Ben Davies. Neco Williams and Conor Roberts play as the wing-backs in the system. In midfield, Joe Allen provides some defensive solidity with Aaron Ramsay looking to create opportunities for the attacking line.
The front three features Dan James using his pace on the wing, with Gareth Bale on the opposite side and giant Kieffer Moore in the middle.
Wales Recent Form and Tactics
Wales’ recent form has been dire. They have faced The Netherlands twice, Belgium twice and Poland once, sneaking a single 1-1 draw out of the entire run of games. Rob Page’s most recent victory was against Ukraine in June, when the dragons secured qualification for the competition.
The team’s tactics could, however, be perfect for the group they are playing in. Wales play with a very deep back line, waiting for gaps to open up and springing a counter with the pace of Daniel James. Whilst extremely vulnerable to teams with quality, this could be perfect for matches against the USA and Wales.
Wales Injuries to Consider
The main miss for Wales is Joe Allen. The midfielder is struggling with a hamstring injury but could come back into the side in some of the later matches of the competition. He has been training, albeit separately from the rest of the group.

- Chris Mepham
