Alvaro Morata

Fabrizio Romano has posted an update on the status of Alvaro Morata, who has just returned to Atletico Madrid following a two-year loan at Juventus and was the subject of Manchester United interest during the transfer window.

According to Romano “Alvaro Morata will stay at Atletico Madrid. Message very clear from both club and player side”. The message is simple, the 183-goal man is not going anywhere this summer, as both he and his team are happy with the arrangement.

Although the 29-year-old enjoyed a strong stint in Turin, the signing of Dusan Vlahovic was going to cut into his game time, which has sent him back to his parent club.

Goalscoring Ability

One of the main reasons Diego Simeone will be happy to keep Morata on hand is his track record of scoring goals. The player has 183 goals to his name throughout an illustrious career, and enjoyed a somewhat fruitful period while in Italy as he scored 32 times across his two seasons there.

The veteran is also accustomed to La Liga having started his career there for Real Madrid where he managed to net 11 goals with relatively limited playing time, before hitting the back of the net 20 times in his best campaign with Los Blancos. After making his switch to the other side of Madrid he has picked up the form that abandoned him at Stamford Bridge, with 24 goals to his name playing under Diego Simeone.

After a hot start to the season both the player and his team will be hoping to kick on and replicate the form that saw him score 20 times in a single season for their rivals in the capital.
