Manchester United might have suffered some bad news in the chase for Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata who is set to stay with the La Liga club, claims insider Jonathan Shrager. The Red Devils are desperately looking for a new forward who can add more goals to the team that has only scored one goal in the Premier League this season.

Only ‘Unforeseen Circumstance’ Can Trigger Morata’s Move to Old Trafford
The La Liga club are now confident of keeping the Spain international for this season after he returned from his loan at Juventus earlier in the summer. Shrager adds that the only thing that can help Morata get a move to United is if something ‘unforeseen’ happens.

But if that doesn’t occur, then the ex-Chelsea striker is going to stay at Atletico this season. This comes despite the fact that recent reports suggested there was a “genuine possibility” that Morata would join the Red Devils this summer.
United’s Summer Striker Signing Chase Continues
With none of the Red Devils’ players having scored a goal so far this season – their only goal of the new Premier League campaign’s opening two games came off a Brighton player – signing a striker this summer is vital. The club have also softened their stance on Cristiano Ronaldo’s future and are ready to sell him if the right offer comes in.
Anthony Martial has picked up an injury very early into the season and can’t be relied upon to consistently deliver. They were linked with a shock move for Austria international Marko Arnautovic but then walked away from it.

Not signing Morata may well hurt the Red Devils. The Spaniard has been a journeyman in his career, having played for the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea, Juventus and Atletico Madrid. He has scored 182 career goals and has started this season well, netting twice in the opening game-week win for his side against Getafe. The 29-year-old has also impressed on an international stage for Spain, with their manager Luis Enrique hailing him as ‘amazing’ during Euro 2020.
