Fabrizio Romano: ‘Unbelievable’ South American Who ‘Dreams’ of Manchester United Move Now a Top Target

Moises Caicedo

Manchester United have included the name of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo on their list of potential midfield targets, confirms Fabrizio Romano. The Red Devils are desperate to bolster their midfielder after suffering two crushing losses early in the Premier League season.

In a report on Wednesday morning, Romano went on to reveal how the South American, for whom moving to United is a “dream”, is emerging as a top target at Old Trafford.

Caicedo’s Family Are United Supporters

The 20-year-old Ecuadorian has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season with Brighton. He dominated the Red Devils’ midfield in his side’s 2-1 win over the club less than two weeks ago and won over many at Old Trafford. For now, Romano adds, the Seagulls don’t want to lose the midfielder and will make things difficult for United if they push for him.

Meanwhile, reliable journalist Jonathan Shrager has also noted that the Ecuadorian midfielder’s family are Manchester United fans. As a result, the 20-year-old is thought to be open to a move.  The reporter also adds that the Red Devils were interested in signing him in 2021, but backed out of the deal at the last moment.

They now feel like Caicedo is experienced enough to perform for them in the Premier League. However, United are yet to make an official approach to Brighton for the services of the Ecuadorian international, who for any side would be an “unbelievable” signing.

With their offer to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong having reportedly expired, United are now frantically looking to sign a new midfielder. They seem to be close to calling off the deal to sign Adrien Rabiot due to his excessive wage demands too.

When it comes to Caicedo, as per Talksport, Brighton do not consider him for sale this summer.

Since joining them in the 2021 January transfer window, Caicedo has made 12 appearances for the Seagulls and earned a reputation as an aggressive, highly-energetic defensive midfielder. His heroics against the Red Devils earlier this month clearly impressed them into entering the fray for his signing.
