Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has been speaking to Owynn Palmer-Atkin from BBC Sport and he has dropped a minor update on the ongoing story surrounding Wesley Fofana.
According to Palmer-Atkin, Rodgers stated that Chelsea, who have an interest in the player, have made two bids for the defender. Still, neither have come “anywhere close” to the valuation the club have decided on.

Leicester Do Not Want to Sell
Fofana’s current home has all the cards in this situation with the player extending his contract very recently and not currently making any ruckus over wanting a move. The team have remained calm and rejected bids for a number of their top players this Summer which Rob Dorsett explains in a piece for Sky Sports.

Essentially, The Foxes are playing the long game as their owners are committed to investing in the infrastructure of the team, and they believe they could be long-term challengers if they stay the course. This is where their current mindset on transfers comes in, unless they receive massive fees which can be reinvested in players and infrastructure, they have no desire to accept bids for star players.
Unless the 21-year-old begins to kick up a fuss and request a move it would appear that The Blues will either have to break Harry Maguire’s record fee or find a new target.

Chelsea co-owner Boehly must not have put the charm on Leicester executives as he did for Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion to help secure moves for Carney Chukwuemeka and Marc Cucurella respectively. The new ownership has already invested big this summer but a record move for the French defender may be a bridge too far.
