Manchester City are prepared to launch a bid for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Marc Cucurella, according to Fabrizio Romano. The bid is expected to be made soon so negotiations with Brighton can be completed shortly.

Marc Cucurella to Manchester City
Pep Guardiola’s Main Target
Following Oleksandr Zinchenko’s completed move to Arsenal, Manchester City are intent on getting a new left-back. It looks like that left-back will be Marc Cucurella, who is also capable of playing as a centre-back. This is not surprising at all, as he is said to be Pep Guardiola’s primary target for the position.
The Athletic previously reported that Brighton are willing to discuss an improved contract for Cucurella, presumably in an attempt to make the defender stay at the club. Still, it seems City have the upper hand in the pursuit of the Spaniard.

Somewhat of a Journeyman
Marc Cucurella has played for many clubs, given his relatively tender age of 23. After spending his early years at Espanyol, Cucurella departed for Barcelona, where he was incorporated into the youth system. The Spaniard worked his way up, making his senior debut for Barcelona B in 2016.
Following his first two seasons, Cucurella was loaned out to Eibar in 2018, where he made his La Liga debut. That season passed and the defender was loaned out to Getafe, despite having just been “permanently” signed by Eibar. Similarly, Getafe signed the Spaniard on a permanent deal (but in the proper sense of the word) in the wake of his first season at the club.
A season that attracted interest from Brighton in the Premier League, who signed Cucurella in 2021. Here, he made a name for himself, winning Brighton’s Player of the Season award. Additionally, Cucurella gained vast experience with Spain’s youth national teams parallel to his club football endeavours, most notably winning Olympic silver in Tokyo.
