Candidates for the Role

According to Fabrizio Romano, Nasser Al-Khelaifi has confirmed that the club are in talks with Nice as PSG want Christophe Galtier as a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino. The former Tottenham Hotspur manager guided the French club to the League title, but failure to progress through the Champions League saw the Argentine relieved of his duties in Paris.

Pochettino was a candidate that Manchester United looked at but was under contract at the time with PSG, so United went with Erik ten Hag. Al-Khelaifi also revealed, that although the club was linked to Zinedine Zidane but they have never approached the Frenchman about the job.

Zidane, seemingly, would like to coach the French national team when Didier Deschamps eventually steps down, which could be after the world cup finals in Qatar. Although several reports seemed to link Zidane with the vacant PSG job, the club have now confirmed no talks ever started.

Talks Ongoing With Nice and Galtier Fits the Bill

With PSG seemingly basing their transfers on a new formation of 3-5-2, Galtier would fit this tactic. The French club are looking to create an identity for the new season. Galtier has used this formation before, and it has been very successful for him. PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos has worked with Galtier before and the pair had a winning partnership at Lille.

PSG hope to reach an agreement soon to bring in the Nice boss. The Ligue 1 Champions are wanting to get things moving and in place quickly to allow new players and the new coach time to settle in ahead of the new campaign.
