Tottenham Hotspur are currently the likeliest destination for ‘world-class‘ talent Christian Eriksen next season, reports ESPN’s Rob Dawson. The Danish midfielder is being sought by Manchester United with Brentford also hoping to keep him, but reports suggest that Spurs are the favourites to land his signature.

A return to North London on the Horizon for Christian Eriksen
ESPN also claim that Eriksen would ideally prefer to stay in London as his family are settled in the England capital. He is, however, yet to make his final decision. The 30-year-old is attracted to the prospect of returning to Tottenham Hotspur, where he played between 2013 and 2020.
Eriksen helped Spurs become one of the major sides in the Premier League and record multiple top-4 finishes under Mauricio Pochettino. He was even influential in the North London side’s dream UEFA Champions League run in the 2018/19 season, in which they defied the odds to progress to the final before losing to Liverpool.

The Danish midfielder is attracted to a return to Spurs after watching them qualify for the Champions League ahead of his other suitors, Manchester United. He would ideally want to play at the highest level of European football rather than play in the Europa League next season, although United’s absence from the most prestigious club competition in Europe is not thought to be a deal-breaker.
Christian Eriksen Has Past Experience With Antonio Conte
Christian Eriksen has a history of playing under Antonio Conte. He joined Conte’s Inter Milan side back in 2020 and spent around one year with the club. Eriksen was part of the Inter side that finished as the runners-up of the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League.
He also helped Inter win the Serie A title in the 2020/21 campaign, scoring 3 goals in 26 appearances for them. It was after that season Eriksen suffered cardiac arrest in the Euro 2020 and was later released by Inter, as the club didn’t want to take a risk on playing him with his condition.

But Eriksen can now re-unite with his former manager in North London. Spurs can benefit from having a versatile, creative midfielder like the 30-year-old and also from his experience. Eriksen has good chemistry with the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, so he should settle into the Spurs squad without any issues.
