Robinson Shortlisted for Manager of the Month
On Wednesday, Oxford boss Karl Robinson made the shortlist for the League One Manager of the Month for October.
The head coach guided his side to four wins from five, losing only against table-topping Plymouth Argyle.
However, Ryan Lowe of the Pilgrims picked up the award when announced on Friday. Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth and Rotherham United’s Paul Warne also made the list.
ACL Injury for Oxford United Midfielder
Oxford will be without midfielder Alex Rodriguez Gorrin after the 28-year-old suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the FA Cup clash against Bristol Rovers.
The Spaniard went for a scan earlier in the week which has revealed the extent of the injury. He will now see a specialist in the coming days.
The midfielder joined the club from Motherwell in 2019 and has become an integral part of the way Karl Robinson’s side plays, racking up 101 appearances.
Elechi Joins The Whites
Defender Michael Elechi has joined Southern League Premier Division South side, Salisbury.
The 20-year-old, who made three appearances while on loan at Chippenham Town already this season, joins Steve Claridge’s side on a one-month loan deal.
Goalless Draw Against Ipswich Town
On Saturday, Oxford played out a goalless draw at Portman Road against Ipswich Town. In a tale of two halves, the U’s squandered chances from Mark Sykes, James Henry and Jordan Thorniley while the Tractor Boys struck the woodwork on two occasions.
Despite the result, Oxford remain in sixth spot in League One while Paul Cook’s side also stay in ninth.
