Cardiff City have parted company with manager Mick McCarthy following their 2-0 defeat at home to Middlesbrough earlier today.
The result left Cardiff just two points above the relegation zone in the Championship. The Bluebirds have won just three of their 14 games so far this season.
Terry Connor, McCarthy’s assistant, has also left the club.

Club Statement
In a statement, Cardiff said: “Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that first team manager Mick McCarthy and assistant manager Terry Connor have left the club by mutual agreement and with immediate effect.
“We would like to thank Mick and Terry for their efforts during their time with the Bluebirds and wish them all the best for the future.
“Steve Morison and Tom Ramasut will oversee first-team duties at this time, as the board of directors begin the process of appointing a permanent replacement.”
Unacceptable Form
Cardiff’s form of late is the joint-worst in the Championship along with Barnsley, with both losing all five of their last matches.
The defeat today came against the man that McCarthy replaced at the Cardiff City Stadium, Neil Warnock, as his Middlesbrough side secured a 2-0 win.
Cardiff also have the worst goal difference in the division with -14.
It had also been suggested by Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman that a decision on McCarthy’s future had already been made before the game.
According to Wales Online, he met a group of supporters before the game to discuss the side’s concerning form, and when asked what the plan was over McCarthy’s future if they lost, he replied “same as if we win.”
He added: “It’s nothing to do with money or his contract, it’s a decision that needs to be made.”
