Tottenham Hotspur will be without a further two players for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United after returning positive coronavirus tests.
The unnamed duo, who trained with the squad on Thursday, will now isolate for ten days, also ruling them out of Spurs’ Europa Conference League match against Vitesse Arnhem and the league trip to West Ham United next weekend.

International Break Causing Further Problems for Nuno Espirito Santo
For already the second time this season, the international break has given Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo a headache.
Back in September, the Portuguese saw some players return injured while three of the club’s South American contingent stayed in Croatia for ten days to avoid quarantine in England.
Not only have Spurs lost the two players to Covid, but the club’s South American quartet of Cristian Romero, Giovani Lo Celso, Davinson Sanchez and Emerson Royal had still not arrived in England when the manager addressed the media on Friday.
What Nuno Espirito Santo Said
Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s trip to St. James’ Park, the Portuguese said: “After the international break there are always huge issues that happen. We have problems but I will not say before the game.”
Speaking about the South American players, he added: “They are travelling now. They will join us tomorrow (Saturday) and then we’ll see.
“The reports that we have is that they finished their games well. Some of them played 90 minutes, Davinson Sanchez no, but what we are expecting is for them to join us and then we’ll see.”
Tottenham Hotspur Looking for Strong Run in All Competitions
Following a perfect start to the season, which included three successive league wins, results began to deteriorate for Spurs.
A 1-0 loss in Portugal against Pacos Ferreira in the Europa Conference League may have been backed up with a 3-0 reverse in the second leg, but heavy defeats against Crystal Palace and Chelsea before a loss in the North London derby stopped any momentum.
Spurs did bounce back with back to back wins in the Europa Conference League and Premier League against Mura and Aston Villa respectively but will be looking to put a string of positive results together, beginning at Newcastle United.
