Nottingham Forest have appointed Steve Cooper as the club’s new head coach.
The former Swansea City boss takes over with the club rock bottom of the Championship table.
He replaces Chris Hughton, who was dismissed after losing six of his first seven league games of the 2021/22 campaign.

The Only Way Is up for Forest as Steve Cooper Takes Charge
Sitting bottom of the league, Nottingham Forest can only look up. Their fortunes turned around at the weekend following Hughton’s exit, interim boss Steven Reid guided the side to a first win of the season, a 2-0 victory at Huddersfield Town on Saturday, September 18.
Steve Cooper has been the first choice for Forest since their decision to part ways with Hughton and last night it was reported they agreed a compensation fee with Swansea City of around £500k.
Cooper took Swansea to the play-offs last season, losing out on promotion to Brentford in the final, following a fourth-place finish.
He will take training this morning ahead of Saturday’s tricky game against Millwall.
Strong Credentials
Cooper was previously manager at Liverpool‘s academy before spells with the England youth set-up that saw him guide the U17s to the 2017 European Champi0nship final, losing to Spain on penalties.
He also guided Swansea to two consecutive play-off appearances. He left the Liberty Stadium by mutual consent in July 2021.
With an ever-growing managerial list over the years, Nottingham Forest will hope that he is the man to deliver a sense of stability and progress at the club.

Cooper will finally get the opportunity to work with Manchester United youngster James Garner, who is on loan at the City Ground, after long being linked with signing him during his spell at Swansea City.
