Arsenal will not be signing Houssem Aouar before the deadline shuts, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Houssem Aouar Not In Talks with Arsenal
Arsenal Not in Discussions Over Aouar Move
The 23-year-old has been a mainstay in the Lyon team over the course of the past few seasons and his performances in France have drawn regular interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Arsenal are one of those teams who have been heavily linked season upon season for the youngster. However, reports today have claimed there are no discussions for the Gunners to bring in Aouar today and it means that he could be plying his trade in Ligue 1 again this season.
The Frenchman has played in his native country since he was 18-years old and has accumulated over 130 appearances for his current club.
Productive Few Seasons for Lyon
The midfielder may have had less of a productive campaign in 2020/21 but remains one of the best in Europe at goalscoring from the middle of the field, getting his side forward and helping start attacks for his club with his dribbling and balls forward.
Signing Aouar could be a welcome boost to the Arsenal squad, with Mikel Arteta’s side struggling to get going in the Premier League so far this season.
However, it now looks unlikely that the Gunners will be making any type of move for Aouar before the end of the transfer window and will instead be looking at sorting out deals elsewhere.
There doesn’t appear to be any other interested parties in the 23-year old either, meaning that unless something can materialise for the player over the course of the next few hours, he is likely to remain in France. It would be a boost to Lyon to keep one of their best stars and they could once again try and challenge for the Ligue 1 title against the likes of PSG and Lille over the course of the campaign.
