With the transfer news increasing by the day, Chelsea have officially sent Baba Rahman out on loan to Reading, with Tino Anjorin set to follow the fullback out of the exit door. Anjorin is attracting interest from Lokotiv Moscow, according to Simon Johnson, and is said to be weighing up his options over the next few days, with a Chelsea stay still possible.
As for Baba Rahman, a move to Reading comes as no surprise. The 27-year-old has had several loan moves during his time at Stamford Bridge having consistently failed to break into the first-team. He’ll be relatively happy with the move, which keeps him in England and competing for first-team football week in week out.
Meanwhile, central defender Andreas Christensen is set to put pen to paper on a new deal at the club, signing for a further four years, according to Simon Johnson of The Athletic.
Chelsea Transfer News
Baba Rahman Joins Reading
Welcoming Baba Rahman to Reading, manager Veljko Paunovic told the club website: “It is no secret that recruiting an experienced left-back was a priority for us this summer, so I am delighted that we have managed to do this deal to bring Baba to Reading. He is a quick, strong, physical footballer who has a lot to offer to the club and the players around him. Baba was really keen to be part of our project and to test himself in this tough division and I am excited to see him playing for us.”
Chief Executive Dayong Pang said: “We are delighted to complete this deal to bring Baba to Reading. He brings a wealth of experience of the game from playing football in the Premier League, around Europe and for his country. His knowledge and ability will be hugely important for us across the course of another busy season.”
Christensen to Be Rewarded
Competing for a place in the current Chelsea side is no easy task, and Andreas Christensen isn’t always one of the first names on the team sheet. When called upon, however, the Denmark international more than does the job, highlighting Chelsea’s incredible strength in depth, which has only been improved with a flurry of transfer news this summer.
As the days countdown to the end of the window, Christensen will be delighted to cement his future at Stamford Bridge.
