Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing French defender Kurt Zouma from London rivals Chelsea.

According to BILD Sport’s Head of Football, Christian Falk, the Champions League winners are willing to negotiate a transfer with Tottenham for the 26-year-old.

Tottenham Hotspur Want to Sign Kurt Zouma From Chelsea

Deal a Possibility Despite London Rivalry

Fresh from their morale-boosting victory over reigning champions Manchester City in the Premier League, Tottenham are not finished with their business in the summer transfer window.

Regardless of whether England captain Harry Kane stays or goes, the north London club are in the market for a striker and have recently seen a bid for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez rejected.

Further defensive additions are also a possibility for new Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo, following the signing of 23-year-old centre-back Cristian Romero on loan, with an option to buy, from Atalanta.

Given the nature of the two clubs as city rivals, Tottenham’s reported interest in Chelsea’s Zouma has been met with scepticism from both sets of supporters. However, it is understood that a deal is a realistic possibility at this stage.

Zouma joined Chelsea from Ligue 1 side Saint-Étienne in 2014, and has since been on three separate loan transfers away from Stamford Bridge, including spells at Stoke City and Everton.

Harry Kane Not Involved in Upcoming European Fixture

As Tottenham continue their search for new players to bring to the club, the transfer saga surrounding Harry Kane continues to rumble on. Following his late return from his post-Euro 2020 holidays, the striker was not in the squad for Spurs’ opening-weekend win over Manchester City amid links over a transfer to Pep Guardiola’s side.

Kane had been expected to travel to Portugal with his team-mates for Tottenham’s Europa Conference League play-off tie with Pacos de Ferreira after being named in the 25-man squad for the fixture.

However, it has been revealed that the 28-year-old will instead remain in London in order to work on his fitness. This is a decision that has been made between the player and his club, and is not transfer-related.
