According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan have agreed a deal with PSV Eindhoven for the transfer of Denzel Dumfries. The Dutch right-back has agreed personal terms and will have a medical in the next few days before being unveiled.
He comes in as a direct replacement for the departed Achraf Hakimi, who was part of an incredible summer of transfers at Paris Saint-Germain. Similar to Hakimini, Dumfries excels going forward, whilst also possessing the needed defensive capabilities.
The fact he can play on the right of midfield, too, hands Inter Milan some crucial versatility in a squad which seems to be growing smaller and smaller every week.
Inter Agree Deal With PSV for Denzel Dumfries
The Next Step
After impressing many with his sheer athleticism at Euro 2020, Denzel Dumfries was bound to get his big move. The competition put him on the map; made people stand up and recognise him, and made him a must-buy for a top club this summer.
Having faced competition from Everton, Inter will be delighted to finally agree a deal with PSV. The price is currently unknown, but, if it’s within good reason, Inter will have themselves the bargain of the summer.
The good news is needed, as well, it has to be said, with the summer more disastrous than progressive so far at the Sam Siro. Antonio Conte kicked it all off by leaving, before Romelu Lukaku followed suit, with a move to Chelsea now imminent. Not to mention the departure of Hakimi.
Now, however, they are set to welcome two fresh faces. One being the aforementioned Dumfries. The other being Edin Dzeko from Roma to create a blend of experience and players in their prime. Simone Inzhagi will have a monumental job on his hands to retain the Scudetto, but securing crucial reinforcements is a key step forward.
