The early stages of the Carabao Cup often sees a number of clubs form the start of potential underdog stories. So far, the competition has seen exits for Northampton, Middlesbrough, Bradford City, Burton Albion, Sutton United and Charlton Athletic among others.
Meanwhile, the likes of Cardiff City, Derby County, Wigan Athletic and Stoke City have gone through. The Second Round sees teams such as Aston Villa, Everton, Newcastle United and Leeds United join the competition alongside Arsenal and other Premier League sides.
The big question is, will we see Manchester City eventually take the crown once again? Or will another side impress? It would be perfect to see an underdog emerge from the pack and take the City crown. With Manchester City’s squad, it will be difficult, but anything can happen in football. Let’s face it, stranger things have happened.
First of all, however, sides must conquer the Second Round of the Carabao Cup, where there will be chance for upsets aplenty. Could this be the beginning of a great story?
