Arsenal Injury News: Updates on Thomas Partey, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Magalhaes

The countdown to the new Premier League season continues to tick down, with less than a week to go until the first whistle. Arsenal feature in the league opener on Friday, August 13, when they travel to newcomers Brentford, but have issued some injury news and have announced that they will be without trio Thomas Partey, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Gunners have issued the update ahead of their final preparation game against north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in The Mind Series – a friendly held to promote better mental health.

Arsenal Injury News: Partey, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Updates

Ankle Injuries Rule Out Thomas Partey and Eddie Nketiah

Arsenal’s update on Partey’s injury could have been significantly worse, as the Ghanaian midfielder limped off after a strong challenge against Chelsea last Sunday.

Partey sustained an injury to the ligaments in his right ankle and will likely return to training in around three weeks. The timeline for the midfielder to return places him for a potential return at last season’s champions Manchester City on August 28.

It is a similar story for young striker Eddie Nketiah, whose right ankle also caused him some difficulty against Chelsea. The Gunners’ diagnosis ruled Nketiah to have bruised his ankle, which would rule him out for up to a month.

Arsenal Receive Gabriel Boost Following Knee Injury

The Gunners have received some better news regarding defender Gabriel, who will be returning to training “in the forthcoming weeks” after sustaining a knee injury last month.

The 23-year-old had been called up to the Brazil squad for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, but complained of pain in his right knee during a training session. According to football.london, scans revealed swelling to his knee joints and undiagnosed tendonitis, which kept him out of the tournament altogether.

Though Gabriel will likely miss the opener against Brentford, his return could see him back in contention to face Chelsea on August 22. All in all, Arsenal fans will be slightly relieved with what could have been a far worse injury news update
