According to Mohamed Bouhafsi, Paris Saint-Germain are trying to close a deal for Lionel Messi over the forthcoming weekend. Bouhafsi also stated that Messi has chosen PSG and his father is due to meet the club.
The news comes as no surprise when considering the financial backing behind the Frenchmen. Perhaps the only surprise is the quickness of the progress made in the deal. Messi’s exit was not long confirmed by Barcelona, nor was PSG’s interest. Just a day later, however, and it looks increasingly likely that we’ll see the Argentine in Ligue 1 this season.

If PSG manage to secure a deal for Lionel Messi, which looks likely, they’ll have a front three of Neymar, Messi and Kylian Mbappe. To put it simply, the trio will be unstoppable. The Frenchmen will emerge as the rightful favourites for every trophy they are competing for.
Messi and Neymar, when together with Luis Suarez in the MSN trio, won honour after honour and scored goal after goal. In fact, many believe that they are the greatest trio in footballing history. But, PSG could be about to go one better.
Neymar and Messi, joined by the younger Mbappe, can break records even the aforementioned MSN failed to break; they can take PSG to their first-ever Champions League trophy. The possibilities are endless.
The transfer window PSG are having, even before the Messi links, is incredible. They secured Georginio Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Sergio Ramos for a combined fee of £0 in regards to transfer fees.
And, now, they look set to top their free agent spending spree by securing Lionel Messi. It will go down as the greatest summer of transfers in the history of the game. It is the stuff of Football Manager, not real life. Yet, here PSG are, building their dream side.
