Belgium giants Anderlecht are close to agreeing a season-long loan deal with Bayern Munich for Joshua Zirkzee, according to Fabrizio Romano. The forward’s absence during Bayern’s pre-season friendly had sparked rumours about a potential exit for the 20-year-old.
Joshua Zirkzee to Join Anderlecht on Loan
Zirkzee to Complete a Second Loan Spell in Six Months
Dutch U21 international Joshua Zirkzee is close to joining Anderlecht on a season long. The Belgian side are in pole position to sign the 20-year-old after overtaking Hellas Verona for the signature of the striker. Zirkzee had been one of the players expected to move out from Bayern Munich during this transfer window. It will be the second loan spell in six months for Zirkzee, who joined Parma on loan on deadline day of the last winter transfer window.
Zirkzee joined Bayern Munich academy in 2017 from Feyenoord. He graduated through the Bavarian side’s youth system and made his debut for the Bayern reserve team in 2019. Zirkzee made his debut for the senior squad a year later and was part of the squad that won the second treble in the history of Bayern Munich.
The striker endured a difficult start to the 2020/21 season following his dream debut season. He struggled to get minutes and made just four appearances in six months for the Bavarians. The striker moved out on loan to Parma for the second half of last season.
Zirkzee made a decent start to his Italian spell and made four appearances off the bench for the Crociati. But the Dutch U21 international suffered an injury two months into his move and missed the rest of the season.
He was part of the Bayern Munich pre-season squad, making three appearances and scoring a goal for the Bavarians.
