AC Milan Transfer News: Interest Shown in Three Chelsea Players

AC Milan transfer news

According to Fabrizio Romano, the AC Milan transfer news is picking up. They reportedly have a triple-swoop deal in mind with Chelsea. This comes after finalizing a deal for Fikayo Tomori as well. It may be premature to call Milan “Chelsea B,” although it’s not very farfetched if these three moves come into play. With Milan back in the Champions League, it makes sense for the team to look for reinforcements from Europe’s reigning champions.

AC Milan Transfer News: Italians Pushing for Chelsea Triple-Swoop

The Main Headliner: Olivier Giroud

Romano mentions that the Rossoneri have already agreed personal terms with Giroud. The squad needs depth up front, and Giroud is as experienced as they come. Giroud’s transfer links away from Chelsea to AC Milan is not exactly surprising news.

The Frenchman is sublime when it comes to positioning and finishing. If Milan have the proper playmakers, Giroud can certainly make noise in both Italy and Europe.

Giroud netted six goals in the Champions League and four goals in the Premier League last season. The numbers may not stand out as amazing, but it’s important to note that his six Champions League goals came in eight matches. Expectations for Milan in the Champions League are not high, but Giroud will boost them.

Milan’s current first-choice striker is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede remains spectacular, but injuries and age are catching up to him. Giroud represents both a reliable and steady backup presence, but also a veteran leader.

Tiémoué Bakayoko and Hakim Ziyech Also monitored

Tiémoué Bakayoko is Chelsea’s midfield option Milan have eyes on. Bakayoko hasn’t played for Chelsea for a couple of years and actually played for Milan while out on loan. He was at Napoli last season, making him extremely familiar to Serie A.

Bakayoko was fantastic during his earlier Milan spell, but the club never made a permanent move afterward. Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer remain stellar options for Milan’s midfield, but they will both leave the squad in January for the African Cup of Nations. Bakayoko will be sorely needed during this stretch and can form a strong midfield alongside Sandro Tonali.

Ziyech arrived at Chelsea with plenty of fanfare, but things haven’t quite panned out. Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz remain better options. Milan just lost Hakan Calhanoglu, so they’ll be searching for a creative attacking-minded playmaker.

At 28-years-old, Ziyech still has plenty to offer. He’s brilliant on the ball, can create with ease, and has an eye for goal.

Milan uses a 4-2-3-1 formation. Calhanoglu’s departure leaves a glaring hole in the middle of the three players behind the striker. This is Ziyech’s natural role, meaning he can fill the void. Due to Ziyech’s age, it’s also likely that Chelsea pursue a permanent sale rather than a loan. If Milan are serious about Champions League contention, these three moves will surely boost their chances to make the knockout stage. After that, anything can happen.
